Give your dog a person to find and let their nose do the workMantrailing teaches dogs to follow the individual scent of a specific person and find where they have gone. The dog learns to follow the trail. The handler learns to read the dog.

Why Mantrailing?Mantrailing is not an obedience exercise. The dog is expected to take the lead, solve the scent problem and make decisions about where the trail goes. The handler learns to support the search without trying to direct every step.

Can my dog Mantrail?Dogs work individually rather than searching together as a group, and dog-to-dog interaction is not required. That can make Mantrailing accessible to a wide range of breeds, ages and training backgrounds. Dogs trail in a harness with a long line and each team takes its turn separately.

Regular Trails

Once an Introductory Workshop is complete, teams can join regular Mantrailing sessions. Changing locations and trail problems allow dog and handler skills to develop gradually rather than repeating the same exercise.

Progression Workshops

Progression Workshops are longer, focused sessions for established teams. Each workshop has a specific development purpose rather than trying to make every part of the trail harder at once.
